Amy Fetters' Transformation with Megan Walters Nutrition
Amy Fetters grew up watching obesity and diabetes run through her family, and she made a decision early on that she wasn't going to accept that as her own future.
After trying diet after diet and working with other nutritionists without lasting success, Amy realized she needed a completely different approach, not another quick fix. That's when she found Megan Walters Nutrition.
Through coaching, Amy learned to plan balanced meals and snacks, understand the "why" behind her sweet cravings and binge eating episodes, and build a sustainable relationship with food that didn't require restriction.
The results speak for themselves: Amy has lost weight, gained muscle, and for the first time in her life, feels like she's building habits that will last a lifetime rather than just following another diet.
Here's her story, in her own words.
In Her Own Words
What inspired you to start working on your nutrition and health?
I come from a family with a long history of obesity and diabetes. Rather than accept that as my fate, I chose to prioritize my nutrition and health so I could build a longer, healthier life and avoid becoming another statistic.
Was there a specific moment that made you decide it was time to make a change? Did you have an "aha" moment?
Knowing my family's history of obesity and diabetes, I realized I couldn't rely on another fad diet. After trying different diets and working with other nutritionists without lasting success, I knew something had to change. My "aha" moment was realizing that if I wanted a different future, I needed a different approach. I chose to ask Megan for help, commit to learning better habits, and make my health a lifelong priority.
How long did it take you to start seeing real results, and how much time did you dedicate each week to your nutrition and habits?
It took me about two months before I started seeing noticeable results. I spent about an hour and a half at the gym five days a week, around 30 minutes each week planning my meals, and about three hours on Sundays meal prepping. It might sound like a big time commitment, but having everything planned and prepared actually gave me more freedom and made it much easier to stay consistent throughout the week.
What does a “day in the life" look like for you now that you've built these habits into your routine?
A typical day is much less stressful now. Since my meals are planned and prepped ahead of time, I don't have to think about what I'm going to eat or make last-minute decisions. That consistency has made healthy eating feel effortless and has given me more time to focus on work, family, and the things I enjoy.
Has coaching helped you on your health journey? If so, how?
Yes, coaching made a huge difference. It gave me the knowledge, accountability, and confidence to create habits that fit my lifestyle. Instead of constantly wondering if I was doing the right things, I had a plan I could trust. That support helped me stay consistent, and consistency is what led to my results.
What's the most challenging part of staying consistent with your nutrition goals?
The most challenging part of staying consistent with my nutrition goals has been managing my sweet cravings and episodes of binge eating. Through this program, I've gained tools to better recognize the triggers behind those behaviors and understand why they happen. I'm learning to shift my mindset, make more mindful choices, and respond to those situations in a healthier way. As a result, I feel more confident in staying consistent with my nutrition goals.
Why did you choose to commit to this lifestyle change, and what does it mean to you?
I've always loved fitness, but I finally realized that exercise alone isn't enough, nutrition is just as important. I chose to make this lifestyle change because I deserve to take care of myself, and no one else can do that for me. This journey means creating healthier habits, improving my relationship with food, and becoming stronger, healthier, and more confident for the rest of my life.
Now that you've built these habits, how do you handle dessert or treats? Do you still enjoy them, and if so, how do you approach it?
I still enjoy desserts just as much as I always have, maybe even more. The difference now is that I don't feel guilty about eating them. I've learned to enjoy them mindfully, plan for them when I want to, and trust that I can have dessert anytime. Because I no longer feel restricted, I don't feel the urge to overeat. It's all about balance and making intentional choices.
What's one thing (food, tool, habit, etc.) you can't live without now that's part of your routine?
The biggest game changer for me has been planning balanced snacks between meals. Having a snack with protein and carbohydrates keeps my energy up, helps me avoid feeling deprived, and prevents the evening binge eating I used to struggle with. It's now a non-negotiable part of my daily routine because it helps me stay in control and feel my best.
What was your biggest setback, and how did you overcome it?
My biggest setback was binge eating and feeling like I had failed whenever I made an unhealthy choice. I overcame it by changing my mindset, planning balanced meals and snacks, and realizing that one choice doesn't define the rest of my day. That shift has helped me stay consistent instead of striving for perfection.
What's your go-to favorite podcast, book, or resource you'd recommend to others on a similar journey?
I use the MyFitnessPal app. It helps me organize and count my macros, and it also has great recipes for all your dietary needs.
How do you stay inspired and motivated to keep going?
I have two young adult daughters that are very active. They help inspire and motivate me to keep going. I want to be able to stay active and healthy to hopefully play with grandchildren someday.
What is your #1 piece of advice to someone just starting their nutrition journey?
Trust the process. Don't give up. Keep showing up for yourself. You are worth it!
What suggestion do you have to improve the program moving forward?
I can't think of anything. I love it.
Amy's Testimonial
"I've always been someone who struggled with my weight. I grew up in a family where being overweight was common, and although I've always loved fitness and challenging myself, I've run multiple marathons and enjoy CrossFit, nutrition was always my biggest obstacle. I tried several nutrition programs over the years, but nothing truly worked long-term. Then I decided to think outside the box, and that's when I found Megan Walters.
Her program made it simple to reach my weight-loss goals in a sustainable, natural way. Since starting her program, I've not only lost weight but also gained muscle at the same time. Even more importantly, she helped me understand the root of my binge eating, why it was happening, and gave me the tools to finally break the cycle.
For the first time, I don't feel like I'm just following another diet, I feel like I'm building habits that will last a lifetime.
I'm incredibly grateful for everything I've learned and the progress I've made."
